 Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus Tabs Casper CEO

Eugene, OR – Aaron McCreight, CDME, Chief Executive Officer of the Casper Area Convention & Visitors Bureau in Casper, Wyoming has been elected to a two-year term to serve on the Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (WACVB) Board of Directors. The voting took place at the Association’s Annual Conference last month in Eugene, Oregon. The Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus is a regional professional association serving more than 135 destination marketing organizations in the western United States and the western provinces of Canada.

“It is truly an honor to be elected to the WACVB Board of Directors,” McCreight said. “It is a privilege to represent Casper, Natrona County and all of Wyoming on this esteemed board. This also presents a great opportunity to network and exchange best practice ideas with some of the brightest leaders in our industry which will help our destination become stronger for years to come.”

Also elected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors was Anne Jenkins, senior vice president, Travel Medford (OR); and Jim Kissinger, vice president-convention sales at the Anaheim/Orange County (CA) Visitor & Convention Bureau, was elected to a one-year Director term on the Board to complete an unexpired term.

Lorene Palmer, president & CEO, Juneau (AK) Convention & Visitors Bureau, officially took office as President of the WACVB. Other officers elected at the conference include President-elect Jennifer Wesselhoff, president & CEO, Sedona (AZ) Chamber of Commerce Tourism Bureau, and Secretary/Treasurer Bill Malone, president & CEO, Park City (UT) Chamber/Bureau. Kathy Smits, vice president-international tourism at the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board will serve as Past President.

The Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is the marketing arm of the Natrona County Travel and Tourism Council, a joint powers board, whose mission is to enhance the economic base of Natrona County through tourism. Its primary objective is to encourage more and longer visitor stays through marketing programs aimed at the convention/meeting, individual, motor coach and special events markets.
