Total Solar Eclipse Wow’s Wyoming

In what was likely the largest tourism related event in Wyoming’s history, a total solar eclipse occurred on August 21, 2017 attracting hundreds of thousands of travelers to the Equality State. Many communities held eclipse festivals and special events aimed at welcoming the huge influx of travelers.

GSA Releases Federal Per Diem Rates for 2018

The General Services Administration (GSA) recently released federal per diem rates for FY2018 that will go into effect October 1, 2017, which show an increase to the standard continental United States (CONUS) rate from $91 per night for lodging to a new rate of $93. In FY2018, no new locations will become Non-Standard Areas (NSAs) with a per diem rate higher than the standard CONUS rate. There are 14 former NSAs that will move into the standard CONUS rate category including Gillette, WY.

Federal per diem rates, which establish the maximum amount government travelers may pay for hotel rooms, are established each year based on actual market data compiled and provided by STR.

He graduated from Central High School in Cheyenne before attending the University of Wyoming where he graduated with his degree in Marketing from the College of Business.

Travel Employment Strong as Unemployment Dips Back to 16-Year Low

The travel industry added 13,400 jobs in July, according to the U.S. Travel Association’s analysis of Friday’s Labor Department employment report, which also showed that the national unemployment rate returned to a 16-year low of 4.3 percent. Travel industry employment has grown every month in 2017 so far, adding an average of 9,500 jobs per month.
