Visitors are Looking for Events
Last week I was asked for a list of major events around Wyoming for 2014. My reply was, "No problem. I’ll have that pulled and over to you right away.” It was only then did I realize the reality of our event database. No Cheyenne Frontier Days. No Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival. No Chugwater Chili Festival. No Wedding of the Waters. No Day of the American Cowboy. No Xtreme Bulls or Cody Stampede or State Fair or Jubilee Days or Flaming Gorge Days or Woodchoppers Jamboree! Houston, we have a problem!
Okay, problem identified. Now, we need to determine the source of the problem and explore solutions. Why are partners not entering events in our comprehensive Calendar of Events? Is the process clunky? Time constraints? You simply aren’t aware of the possibilities? Please – help us understand!! We will improve our communication with you. We are working to deliver a more user friendly interface. But in the meantime, none of us should lose out on the opportunity that lies ahead in the coming months.
The 2014 National Summer Advertising Campaign launches in approximately 60 days. Over $6.5 million dollars of magnificent advertising messages will be deployed in major markets across the US with a concentrated focus on inspiring consumers to take their summer vacation in Wyoming. Over 2 million unique users will visit www.wyomingofficeoftourism.org. An overwhelming number of those users view "activities” and "events.” People are looking for things to do while on their vacation. Do not give them a reason to move on down the road!
The math is simple. The result is an extended length of stay = greater expenditure in your community = increased revenues from the visitor economy!!
